The world premiere at Talviharmonikka is a powerful interpretation of the Carmen opera by strong and skilled women.

Me, Carmen is a monologue version by dramaturge Juhani Koivisto of one of the world’s most performed operas, the French classic Carmen by Georges Bizet. Forget the traditional grand production: in this chamber opera a single accordion is a whole orchestra. This captivating performance by two women takes you into Carmen’s world in a way that moves opera newcomers and veterans alike. Carmen’s story is a story of freedom, passion and the desire to live life on one’s own terms. Familiar music takes on a new tone when the story is told from Carmen’s own perspective. What goes on in the mind of this freedom-thirsty woman as she struggles with her fate?
